Six killed, 30 injured as tractor turns turtle in Vadodara

Vadodara, Sep 3 (UNI) Six women farm labourers were killed and 30 others injured, 11 of them critically, when a tractor-trolley turned turtle at Bhatpur of Savli taluka here.

Savli police sources said the accident occurred when the victims were returning to Bhatpura village yesterday evening after completing a contract work at Bhadol.

The driver of the ill-fated tractor-trolley carrying about 40 farm labourers, mostly women, reportedly lost control of his vehicle when a tempo overtook him on the narrow road.

The victims, who were trapped under the tractor-trolley, were first rushed to the Savli hospital and later shifted to the SSG hospital. Six of them succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Savli police, which was investigating the case, said drivers of both the vehicles fled from the accident spot and were still absconding.
