Singing Vande Mataram voluntary in Nagaland
Kohima, Sep 3 (UNI) The singing of Vande Mataram in all the schools and other educational institutes in Nagaland on September 7 would be purely voluntary in pursuance of the State Government notification.
Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1876, was first recited by Rabindra Nath Tagore and later adopted as National Song on September 7, 1905.
Stating this, the Department of School Education in a notification said as a befitting finale commemoration year, the Centre had decided that the first two stanzas of National Song Vande Mataram should be sung simultaneously on September 7 at 1100 hrs in all schools and other educational institutions throughout the country.
