RSPB eves shatter PSPB's hopes of scoring hat-trick
Bangalore, Sep 3 (UNI) Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) Women shattered the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) paddlers hopes to lift the title for the third time by defeating them 3-1 in the finals of the 36th All India Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championship here today.
In a major upset, Railway paddlers Mamata Prabhu trounced former National Champion poulami Ghatak (4-1), while her team mate Soumita Mondal overcame stiff resistance from National Champion Mouma Das (3-2).
In the third match, SAF gold medallist Mouma again suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Railways paddler Mamata Prabhu 3-0, enabling her team to defeat their arch rivals.
However, in the last match, Anindita Chakraborty lost to K Shamini 2-3.
PSPB, which has been lifting the title for the past two years, had won the title 11 times and RSPB five times.
