New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sought comments from the public on its draft notification proposing to amend Rule 65 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) Rules 1955 relating to Maximum Residue Limits (MRL) limits for six more pesticides in different food articles.

An official release said the draft had proposed to be prescribed in different articles of food under PFA Rules. The comments on the draft rules should reach to Secretary, Department of Health of the Ministry of Health within 60 days.

The draft amendment comes in the wake of the findings of Delhi based Centre for Science and Environment that 12 major cold drinks brands manufactured by Coca-Cola and Pepsi and sold in and around Delhi contain a deadly cocktail of pesticide residues and potent chemicals which could cause cancers, damage the nervous and reproductive systems and reduce bone mineral density.
