Large parts of Kolkata deluged

Kolkata, Sep 3(UNI) Large parts of Kolkata remained under water today following the heavy downpour last night that affected normal life.

With a low pressure on the Bay of Bengal dragging the monsoon trail, the rain, accompanied by a galic wind, flooded several areas in north, central, south and west Kolkata.

The rain hampered movement of vehicluar traffic and snapped electric wires in many areas. With the accumulated rain water refusing to dissipate even late this morning, people had to wade through knee-deep water.

Met office said the city recoreded more than 90 mm rainfall in few just few hours.
