Ito, Japan, Sep 3 (UNI) Things went haywire for Jeev Milkha Singh in the final round and he kept stumbling at regular intervals to card a disappointing one-over 72 to finish tied third in the 150 million yen Fujisankei Classic today.

Jeev, who had soared to the tied second spot after the penultimate round yesterday, failed to improve and ended up with a four-day total of two-under 282 to finish eight shots behind winner Shingo Katayama.

Katayam, who took home a purse of 30,000,000 yen, fired a brilliant three-under 69 in the final round to remain four shots clear of second placed Wen-Chong Liang with a total of 10-under 274.

Meanwhile, it was a disappointing finish for Jeev, who never looked in good touch in the final round as he managed three birdies against four bogeys.

Jeev had a fine start and the Indian sank in a birdie on the fourth but ended up dropping shots on the eighth and ninth to make the turn at one-over.

His backward journey did not start on a very bright note and he dropped a shot on the 13th before recovering to birdie the 15th.

However, Jeev did not manage to bulid on the advantage and dropped a bogey on the 17th.

The Volvo China Open winner, however, did have reasons to smile towards the end as he sank in a birdie on the 18th. Jeev walked away with a prize money of 7,200,000 yen for his effort.
