Hoshiarpur FA beat UP 3-0 in under-17 Challenge Cup
Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) Despite playing with only nine players Uttar Pradesh put up good resistance before losing to 0-3 Hoshiarpur Football Academy in their opening group B match on the third day of the fourth Administrator's Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament for Under-17 at the Sector 42 Sports Complex here today.
Eight UP players were declared over-aged by the Medical Board consisting of doctors from Government Hospital here.
Hoshiarpur FA striker Dilshad Ahmed scored the first goal, while Mehnga Singh got the second to put his team 2-0 up. Charanjit Singh completed the tally in the 75th minute.
Earlier, Haryana maintained their winning spree as they registered their second successive win in Group A by routing unsung Himachal Pradesh 11-0. The winners had established a commanding 8-0 lead in the first half. Mandeep Singh was theirup scorer with four goals to his credit.
Meanwhile, the medical panel ruled Gurvinder Singh and Parveen Kumar, both of Mehar Football Academy overage and they were debarred from taking part in the tournament. So far 21 players, including two from the hosts Chandigarh Football Academy run by the Chandigarh Sports Department have been found overage and suspended from the tournament.
