Heavy rains likely in WB, Orissa in next 48 hours

Kolkata, Sept 3 (UNI) Heavy rains are liklely to occur in the next 48 hours in Ganjetic West Bengal and Orissa due to low pressure in North West Bay of Bengal.

Met officials said here today that Kolkata and South 24 Parganas experienced heavy rains last night. The total rainfall in Kolkata recorded till 08.30 hours in the morning was 90.4 mm while it was 99.6 mm in Diamond Harbours in South 24 Parganas.

Met sources forecast rains and thundershowers at most of the places of the state in next 48 hours due to the low pressure and active South West monsoon.

The sky would remain generally cloudy with one or two spells of rains and thundershowers are expected in the city. However, there was no respite from humidity. The maximum humidity was at 98 per cent while the minimum was 65 per cent.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.8 degree Celsius while the minimum was 25.1 degree Celsius.
