Germany to invest in Tripura

Agartla, Sep 03 (UNI) Close on the heels of Japan, Germany will invest in the tiny North-Eastern state of Tripura in the forest-based projects.

Germany has prepared a project report of Rs 120 crore Euro to invest in the state as a part of Indo-German bilateral trade.

A delegation of German has surveyed in Dhalai, North and South districts specially in the forest areas.

The delegation met with state Forest and Rural Development Minister Jitendra Chowdhury here yesterday and discussed about their plans to create employment through forest resources.

German investment organisation KFW is surveying since last one year in the state and their main aim is to set up eco-tourism projects, afforestation and improve financial condition of the poor people living in the forest areas.

A delegtion-led by Peter J Breny had recently visited the state and undertook the survey.

On August 30, Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) has submitted its final project report for Rs 300 crore funding to the state government after completion of its survey on various aspects of forests.
