Ganguly left out for both DLF Cup, Champions Trophy

Mumabi, Sep 3 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly was once again left out while injury ruled out Anil Kumble as selectors announced the teams for the DLF Cup in Malaysia and the October-November Champions Trophy here today.

The selectors opted to retain the 15-member team, which returned from Sri Lanka without playing a single game, for the Malaysia tri-series also featuring Australia and West Indies.

A separate 14-member squad for the Champions Trophy was also announced and S Sreesanth was the one to be left out for the ICC event which India will be hosting.

Chairman of selectors Kiran More said Kumble, who returned midway from his stint with County club Surrey last month following tendonitis, had still not recovered which forced the board to leave him out of the team.

''Kumble has still not recovered from his injury,'' More told reporters while announcing the squad.

Ganguly, meanwhile, remained out of favour and was left out of both the squads. More said the selectors opted to retain the squad which went to Sri Lanka for the Malaysia tri-series, which meant that the former skipper's name did not come up for discussion.

''The announcement of team for Malaysia was a mere formality as we had decided to retain the team which went to Sri Lanka,'' he said.
