Elaborate arrangements for peaceful immersion of Ganesh idols
Hyderabad, Sept 3 (UNI) The Hyderabad traffic police are making elaborate arrangements for smooth flow of final day immersion procession of Ganesh idols on September 6.
Addressing newsmen here, Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) A K Khan said the main procession from South Zone (Old City) would pass through Keshavagiri temple in Chandrayangutta via Falaknuma, Aliabad, Moghalpura, Charminar, Mirchowk, Darul-Shifa, New Bridge, M J Market, Abids, Basheerbagh, Upper Tank Bund and Buddhapurnima.
Ganesh idols from 16 other routes covering West and East Zones would join the main route at various places Laldarwaja, Kotlalija, Hussainalam, City College, Nayapul, M J Market, Liberty and Telugu Talli. Idols from Secunderabad (North Zone) would come via Paradise, Ranigunj, Minister Road and would be immersed in front of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
Except on Narayanaguda flyover, the procession would not be diverted over the flyovers in city, he said.
Mr Khan said arrangements would be made at alternate water bodies for immersion of idols. Tanks in Saroonagar, Miralam, Hasmathpet, IDPL, Safilguda, Nallacheruvu and Durgam Cheruvu were made ready for immersion.
The traffic police have also set up ten mechanical teams to help vehicles which break down in the middle of the procession.
About 13 cranes were put on stand by for the carrying away the broke down vehicles. The transport department were also making efforts to release about 2,000 vehicles, thoroughly tested for the purpose of carrying idols, he explained.
Mr Khan said that three exit routes were allotted for return of empty lorries after immersion of idols at Hussainsagar. At the Buddha Purnima point, after immersion the vehicles would proceed via Khairtabad flyover, KCP and Hotel Taj Krishna.
He said people who wished to watch the immersion should reach Hussainsagar lake by R T C buses and M M T S trains to avoid traffic congestion. No general traffic would be allowed towards Ganesh immersion procession, he added.
Mr Khan said that 1,800 traffic personnel would be deployed. An additional force of 200 police personnel were also being deployed from other districts for manning the traffic.
There would be continuous aerial surveillance from a helicopter, he added.
