BJP criticises Congress for showing religious discrimination

Tirupati, Sept 3 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the Congress for discrimination in the protection of temple properties in the state.

Andhra Pradesh state Secretry N V S S Prabhakar Rao, who was also convenor of the party's Temple Assets Protection Panel said the government had concentrated on the implementation of urgent steps to be taken for the protection of church properties in the state. Why is the government not showing the same speed and interest in the protection of temple properties in the state, he questioned.

Mr Rao charged that after the Congress government came to power, the problem of proselytisation and evangelical activities had increased.

Mr Rao wanted the government to come out with necessary legislative measures to counter the problem especially in major temples like Tirupati, Tirumala, Srisailam, Srikalahasti, Simhachalam and Ahobilam.
