Atwal, Chopra miss cut at Deutsche Bank Championship

Norton, Massachusetts, Sep 3 (UNI) Arjun Atwal was bad while Indo-Swede Daniel Chopra even worse as both put up another disappointing performance to make a mid-way exit at the 5.5-million dollar Deutsche Bank Championship here.

In second round yesterday, Atwal seemed erratic and returned a poor three-over 74 card to aggregate seven-over 149 while Chopra carded four-over 75 to total eight-over 150 as both missed the cut by a distance.

Atwal had an ominous start with a bogey on the second hole.

Although he recovered quickly with a birdie on the next, he lost the plot and dropped stroke apiece on the fifth, seventh and eighth to finish his front nine three-over. A back nine which started with consecutive birdies on the first two holes proved a mirage and a bogey each on the 13th and the 17th sealed the Orlando-based pro's fate.

Chopra, on the contrary started with a birdie on his front as well as back nine but four bogeys and even worse, a double bogey on the par-four 13th proved to be his undoing.

Meanwhile, Australian Robert Allenby and Britain's Justin Rose shared the lead with six under at the top after the second round, two strokes ahead of Tiger Woods who squandered the lead after a poor one-over round.
