AP to add more to the growing tourism sector: CM

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the state government would provide more facilities for the growth of travel and tourism in the state.

Speaking at the Travel Agents Congress of India here, he said a comprehensive tourism policy was on the cards and would be released by next week.

He said the state government conducted several international events like Kalachakra, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Asian Development Bank Summit which left sweet memories to all the participants this year.

Dr Reddy noted that with the growth in economy, leisure tourism also bound to grow.

He said the state government would also launch a marketing strategy for tourism growth. The beaches between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam coast would be modernised and tourism industry would be asked to set up budget hotels in the area.

Dr Reddy said the State would become a tourism hub in future and Hyderabad would become a major transit for Europe as the international airport is coming up in the city.

To create employment, the tourism policy would come in the next cabinet meeting scheduled for Spetember 8. We would announce a tourism package to invite foreign tourists, he added.
