Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 3 (UNI) A last minute goal by substitute Jafar Illikal helped Akbar Travels, Mumbai, edge past Hyderabad Globe in the inaugural match of the All-India Mayor's Trophy football tournament, here this evening.

After both the teams drew blank at the breather, Jafar struck with a superb field goal under fading light to snuff out the Men in Red's challenge (1-0).

Both the teams dished out a poor show, with the game mainly confined to the midfield. The Mumbai outfit had the better of the exchanges particularly in the first half, but failed to find the target.

Akbar Travels had one very good chance in the first half when K R Sumesh sent a lovely pass to his fellow-striker Joseph Pereira, but the latter just could not put the ball into the cage.

Tomorrow, SAI, Goa will take on SBH, Hyderabad.

Earlier, the tourney was inaugurated by former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi at a glittering opening ceremony.
