Advani urges travel agents to raise voice against insurgency

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Leader and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani today asked the travel and toursim agents to raise their voice against naxalism and terrorism.

Speaking at the valedictory function of the Indian Travel Congress here, Mr Advani said though there were other ways to counter this problem, ''the greater the voice, the stronger would be the response to the menace.'' He said extremist issue was affecting the development of tourism in the country.

Mr Advani pointed out that toursim development depended on facilties and infrastructure provided to the tourists. He said the country lacked infrastructure for tourism development.

''We must take steps to develop domestic tourism instead of overseas tourism. The travel and tourism agents must concentrate on the development of the domestic tourism and create sufficient infrastructure in this direction,'' he added.
