Sir Clyde to be laid to rest at 3W's Oval

Bridgetown, Barbados, Sep 2 (UNI) Legendary West Indies batsman Sir Clyde Walcott, who died at the age of 80 last week, will be buried opposite Sir Frank Worrell at the 3W's Oval today.

Sir Clyde, who died last Saturday at a hospital here, will be laid to rest near the 3W's Walk of Fame at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, where Sir Frank was also buried 39 years ago, a WICB statement said here.

With Sir Clyde's death, Everton Weekes remains the sole surviving member of the Three Ws of the 1950s and 60s.

The legendary batsman served as the President of ICC and the West Indies Cricket Board after his playing days and was also the manager of the West Indies teams that won the World Cup in 1975 and 1979.

In 1993 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for ''his services to cricket and cricket administration in the West Indies and internationally''.

Sir Clyde is survived by his wife and a son.
