Mumbai, Sep 2 (UNI) The Shiv Sena has decided to organise a 'Santvan dindi' programme (consolation procession) in Marathwada and Vidarbha districts where a number of farmers have committed suicide, from September 10.

In a front page statement published in today's ''Saamna'', Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray has stated that he and his Shiv Sainiks will stand "like a solid rock" by the families of farmers who have committed suicides.

Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote, who will lead the 'dindi', told UNI that the programme will commence from Shegaon in Vidarbha and end in Parbhani district of Marathwada region. During the two-month long programme, Mr Raote would go to each and every household of farmers which have lost their earning member.

A saree-blouse and Rs 5,000 will be handed over to the widows of the farmers as 'Raksha-Bandhan' gift from the Sena supremo. Mr Raote would be joined by other Sena leaders at different locations during the programme.

''We will discuss the problems faced by the widows whose husbands have committed suicide and try to instill self-confidence in them,'' Mr Raote said.
