Seven hurt in caste war shootout in Bhilwara

Bhilwara, Sep 2 (UNI) Seven people were seriously injured today in a shootout between two castes in this district.

According to police, families of Chotu Gurjar and Puran Khatik clashed in Kanechankala village. Soon, members of one group took out guns and fired at the other injuring seven people grieviously.

The injured were first rushed to Shahpura hospital and later to Bhilwara's Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.

Kanechankala village is situated 65 km from here and is the home constituency of BJP legislator Ramatan Bairwa. The place has witnessed bloody caste clashes between Gurjars and Khatiks twice in the past. The caste clashes has been on for the past 15 years and cases are pending in the court.

Superintendent of Police Govind Gupta said some people have been arrested and cases will be lodged against them.

Shahpura's Deputy Superintendent of Police Shobhagya Singh and other police officials have been deployed at the spot in view of the seriousness of the incident.
