President to interact with farmers at NAF
Chennai, Sep 2 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will interact with 20 farmers from Chunampet and Madarpakkam villages on September 4 at the National Agro Foundation (NAF), at Taramani, in the city.
Speaking to newspersons here today, NAF Managing Trustee S S Rajsekar said President Kalam had been showing keen interest in the project ever since he succeeded NAF founder C Subramaniam.
Dr Kalam wanted to visit both the villages, but due to security reasons we planned to bring 20 farmers from the villages, ''he added.
The President would discuss with the farmers the farming methods they adopted on the advise of National Agro Farming.
Anna University Vice-Chancellor D Viswanathan, who was also present said, students pursuing B Tech (food processing) were being trained at NAF. They were planning to start a Ph D programme in food processing.
