NEEPCO chief not to resume office after leave: Gauhati HC

Guwahati, Sep 2 (UNI) Gauhati High Court has directed North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) CMD S C Sharma not to resume office on expiry of his leave on September 12 until further orders from the court.

The court, in an order issued yesterday, directed that status quo should be maintained regarding the present arrangement of looking after the management of the public sector power corporation.

The directive was issued after hearing a PIL filed by one Md Rausan Ali.

Chief Justice B S Reddy and Justice H N Sarma heard petitioner's counsel K N Choudhury and Additional Solicitor General of India K P Pathak before issuing the directive.

The CMD of NEEPCO is on leave till September 12 and the court directed that he should not be allowed to resume office after the expiry of his leave period.

The Additional Solicitor General of India (ACC) informed the court that proposals submitted by the Union Ministry of Power are under consideration and an appropriate decision would be taken soon.

The court has posted the petition for next hearing on September 20 and the Centre would file a comprehensive affidavit on the matter for consideration of the court.
