Karunanidhi has a dig at AIADMK members
Chennai, Sept 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today had a dig at AIADMK members for objecting to his reading in the House, a statement issued by their party leader J Jayalalithaa, making some personal remarks against him.
After Speaker R Avudaiyappan referred a breach of privilege case against AIADMK members to the privileges committee in connection with the issue, Mr Karunanidhi said, ''for the first time in the history, the Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed a unique event of partymen objecting to statement of their own leader.'' He said when excerpts from the speeches of Dravidian stalwart and former Chief Minister C N Annadurai was referred to by someone, the partymen would be elated and love to listen to it. Similarly, the Congress men would become joyous when speeches of K Kamaraj were referred.
Similar would be the case with the left parties, Pattalli Makkal Katchi and other parties when speeches of their leaders were recalled.
However, it was strange that the AIADMK men objected to the reading of the statement issued by their party Supremo Jayalalithaa, on the floor of the House and that too when the Chief Minister himself wanted to read it, he said amid thumping of the desks by the members of DMK and its allies.
Members of AIADMK and MDMK, who had staged a walk out were not present in the House, when Mr Karunanidhi made the remarks.
