JD(S) leader criticises Minister's threat to CSE chairperson

Kozhikode, Sep 2 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) Parliamentary Party leader M P Veerendra Kumar today took strong exception to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss' threat to slap a legal notice on environmentalist Sunita Narain for accusing him of ''colluding'' with multi-national cola companies.

In a letter addressed to Mr Ramadoss, copy of which was sent to the media here, he said ''it is quite unfortunate that you would resort to such legal redress against a person, whom you have described as a good friend as well as having paid a compliment to her in the Lok Sabha recently.'' ''Instead of proposing to send legal notice to the chairperson of the Centre for Environment and Science, you should take action against the cola companies, whose products were found health hazards as revealed in the recent studies,'' he said.

''As the Minister for health, shouldn't you act in the interests of our people to bring it to light?, Mr Kumar asked.
