Haryana cabinet decides to enhance MLA pension
Chandigarh, Sep 2 (UNI) The Haryana Cabinet today approved the draft of a bill seeking enhancement of pension for the members of Haryana Assembly.
As per the Haryana Legislative Assembly (Allowances and Pension of Members) Second Amendment Bill-2006, the rates of pension of Members of Haryana Vidhan Sabha would be enhanced from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per month.
If any person has served as a member for a period exceeding five years, he would continue to be paid an additional pension of Rs 600 per month for every year in excess of five years as in the case at present with regard to additional pension.
It was observed that in Punjab, an MLA is paid pension of Rs 5000 per month. In case a member has served for a period exceeding five years, he is paid an additional pension of Rs. 500 per month for every year.
At present, about 360 former MLAs are getting pension in Haryana.
