French Naval ship to visit Andamans on Sept 4

Port Blair, Sept 2 (UNI) A French Naval Ship, 'Var', will be on a courtesy visit to the Andasman and Nicobar islands from September 4 to 6, 2006.

The ship would arrive here on September 4 morning and anchor in Port Blair harbour, an official communication from Andaman and Nicobar said today.

On arrival, the officers and sailors of the vessel would call on Commander-in-Chief of A&N Command, India's first tri-service joint command.

Besides city sightseeing, they would visit Ross Island and witness Light and Sound show at historic Cellular Jail, the release added.

A football and basketball match would also be organised.

At the end of the visit, Var would depart on September 6.
