Court grants transit remand to Jaish ultras

Basirhat, Sep 2 (UNI) A local court in North 24 Parganas today granted a prayer for transit remand to take two Jaish-e-Mohammad ultras to Mumbai for investigation into the July blasts.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Basirhat Pallab Roy Chowdhuri ordered the transit remand for Mohammad Sohel Afzal and Md.

Juber, in judicial custody here following their arrests on August 14, to Mumbai with a Maharashtra police team. Maharashtra police sought the transit remand filing a warrant issued by the Mumbai police before the ACJM here.

A four-member police team had been camping here for a week. It will proceed to Mumbai on Monday after getting both the accused from the Dum Dum Central Jail, a member of the team said.

During the past couple of days, the sub-divisional court recorded confessional statements of the two under section 164 of the Cr PC.
