Breach of privilege case against AIADMK
Chennai, Sep 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Assembly speaker R Avudaiyappan today referred to the privileges committee, a breach of privilege case against AIADMK members for giving a false version about the proceedings in the House while giving an interview outside.
After the AIADMK members staged a walk out, led by Deputy Leader of the opposition O Panneerselvam, Electricity Minister Aroct N Veerasamy said the AIADMK members speaking to the media outside, said that they walked out because ''women were being talked about in a bad manner in the House''.
Mr Veersamy said the reasons attributed by the AIADMK members for their walk out was ''far from truth and totally distorted.'' However, the walk out amounted for breaching the privilege of the House, he said and wanted Speaker R Avidaiyappan to give his ruling on the issue.
As Leader of the House and Finance Minister K Anbazhagan also condemned the AIADMK members for giving a false version about the proceedings of the House and wanted the chair to take action, the Speaker referred the 'breach of privilege case' to the privileges committee.
Earlier, Mr Panneerselvam, before staging a walk out, said when Chief Minister M Karunanidhi made a statement in the house his party members raised some objectionable words. Since the Speaker refused to expunge those words, they were staging the walk out.
