Bokaro Steel Plant to be upgraded to compete at international level
Bokaro, Sep 2 (UNI) With a view to meeting the demand of steel at international level, the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has decided to expedite the modernisation process of its Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP) situated in Jharkhand.
The SAIL Board had sanctioned three new projects of about Rs 350 crore to expedite the modernisation process. In addition the company hads also sanctioned a new project of worth Rs 176 crore.
The plant would complete its renovation in next three years.
Earlier it was targetted to complete in five years.
Communication head of the plant Basant Kumar Thakur here today said the SAIL had initiated steps to strengthen its plants in order to face competition in the international market.
Reffering to the new education encouragement scheme launched by the BSP, Mr Thakur said the plant would provide financial assistance to the children of displaced people and also belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
He said ten children would be given free education upto graduation level and they would also be provided financial assistance for vocational courses like engineering medical and aeronoutics.
