Shobhana Bhartia elected ABC chairperson

Mumbai, Sep 1 (UNI) Rajya Sabha member and vice chairperson of HT Media Limited, Shobhana Bhartia has been elected the new chairperson of the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) for the year 2006-2007.

FCB Ulka Advertising managing director and CEO Anil Kapoor has been elected as the deputy chairman, a release here today said.

Ms Bhartia has been a member of the Council of Management of ABC since 1999 and was its deputy chairperson during 2005-2006.

A Padma Shri awardee for excellence in journalism, Ms Bhartia is presently the chairperson of the Press Trust of India and member of the Commonwealth Press Union, London, and International Press Institute, Vienna. She is also on the Board of Governors of the Birla Institute of Technology, besides being a member of the high level group ''lliance of Civilizations'' formed by the United Nations Secretary General.
