New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today flagged off four multi-utility vehicles, including two ambulances, for the Republic of Congo, saying the move would help foster better understanding between the peoples of India and Congo.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Dikshit said it was heartening that the vehicles would be used to better the health of the people of Congo.

''I hope this noble endeavour is the first in the series of initiatives being taken to strengthen the bonds between the two countries.'' Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo Rohtas Goel, who is also the chairman of Omaxe Group, whose 'Omaxe Foundation' donated the vehicles, said the gesture of offering the vehicles would go a long way in cementing ties between Congo and India.

''It is a unique partnership where both governments are keen to expand ties and improve people to people contact and this small step will help a lot in reaching that goal.'' Omaxe Foundation, a non profit organisation, which is working to facilitate socio-economic activities for the underprivileged, is proud to help the needy in every possible way and this token donation is a step in that direction, he added.
