Sealing of commercial units in 'A', 'B' category areas from Sep 16

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Sealing of commercial units in 'A' and 'B' category areas has now been postponed to September 16.

The decision was taken after the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee today sought certain clarifications on commercial units in these areas. Consequently, sealing in the areas has been postponed to September 16, an MCD spokesperson said.

Sealing in several commercial units in residential areas of Delhi began today following an August 18 notification by the Urban developemnt ministry withdrawing exemption granted to these categories under the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2006.

Sealing deadline of banquet halls situated in the residential areas has already been extended to September 15. The August 31 deadline for closure of banquet halls was on Wednesday extended after a number of representations were received by the MCD as well as the Monitoring Committee highlighting difficulties in arranging alternative site for marriages and other functions at such a short notice.
