Rich tributes paid to noted litterateur D S Prabhakar
Panchkula, Sep 1 (UNI) Rich tributes were paid to noted litterateur Devi Shankar Prabhakar on his first death anniversary at a function organised here in which Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced that the community centre in sector 7 would be named after him.
His widow Mrs Usha Sharma also announced the setting up of Devi Shankar Memorial Trust to promote Haryanvi culture.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said Prabhakar would be long remembered for his work in literature and promotion of the culture of Haryana. He said though Prabhakar was born in a tiny village 'Maina' near Rohtak, he became a multi-faceted personality who was not only a great writer and philosopher but also a renowned filmaker. His Haryanvi film ''Chandrawal'' won accolades for promoting the Haryanvi culture.
Mr Hooda also released two books written by the late writer. One of the book, 'Diwale Re', is an autobiographical novel while the other is 'Jag Mag Jagua' is a collection of Haryanvi poems.
