Rajkamal Rao assumes charge as Railway Board Member (Mechanical)

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Mr Rajkamal Rao, till now General Manager, Western Railway, has assumed charge as Member (Mechanical), Railway Board, bringing to the office his vast expertise as a prominent mechinal engineer of the Railways.

Mr. Rao is a 1970 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME).

He also held several other key posts, including Additional Member (Mechanical), Railway Board, Additional General Manager of South Central Railway, Secunderabad; Chief Mechanical Engineer of East Coast Railway, Bhubaneshwar; and Chief Personnel Officer, South Central Railway, Secunderabad.

He also headed the Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway as Divisional Railway Manager.

A graduate from Agra University, he got his mechanical engineering degree from Institute of Engineering, Kolkata. He attended the Advance Professional Programme in Public Administration held by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.

An officer with a rich and varied experience, he has been on secondment to the Nigerian Railway Corporation from 1978 to 1982.
