Pondy admn announces Onam holidays for edu institutions

Pondicherry, Sep 1 (UNI) The Pondicherry administration has announced holidays for all educational institutions in the Union Territory on September four and five on the occasion of Onam festival, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told the legislative Assembly today.

He was replying to a special mention in this regard by DMK member S P Sivakumar.

Mr Shivakumar pointed out that the Tamil Nadu government had announced holidays in the districts adjoining Kerala for Onam and was considering to declare a holiday in Chennai.

He said the Pondicherry administration should also declare holidays for Uthradam (Sep 4) and Thiruonam (Sep 5) for educational institutions in the Union Territory.
