Pay hike for anganwadi, noon meal workers
Chennai, Sep 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced pay hike for anganwadi and noon meal centre workers, which would entail additional expenditure of Rs 45.41 crore per annum.
Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, he said pay scale for noon meal organisers and anganwadi workers, who were drawing salary of Rs 2,158 at present, would be fixed at Rs 1300-20-1500-25-2000.
Accordingly, their salary would go up to Rs 2,418, a rise of Rs 260, he said.
Consolidated pay for cooks at noon meal centres and first grade anganwadi assistants would be hiked to Rs 1,300 from Rs 1,180.
Assistant cooks at noon meal centres and second grade anganwadi assistants would get a consolidated pay of Rs 1,000, an increase of Rs 110. This would benefit 88,070 noon meal and anganwadi organisers, 82,324 cooks and anganwadi first grade assistants and 41,344 assistant cooks and anganwadi second grade assistants.
The pay hike would come into effect from today, he added.
