NABARD sanctions Rs 22.31 crore loan to HP

Shimla, Sep 1 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a loan amount of Rs 22.31 crore to Himachal Pradesh under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), an official spokesman today said.

The amount has been sanctioned for the construction of 10 rural roads, three bridges and 61 minor irrigation and water harvesting structures in the state under RIDF.

The spokesman said the Bank has already released a sum of Rs 882.93 crore to the state out of a total amount of Rs 1286.84 crore sanctioned to it since its inception in 1995-96 A sum of Rs 16.20 crore would be spent on the construction of 10 rural roads and three bridges, which would benefit 57,355 people in 77 villages and 62 urban and rural marketing centres in five districts of the state, he said.

He said sixty one minor irrigation and water harvesting structure projects, involving a loan of 6.02 crore would provide assured irrigation to 980.87 hectares of land in eight districts of the state.

While Shimla has received the maximum loan amount of Rs 859.59 lakh, Hamirpur is at the bottom of the table with a loan amount of Rs 13.31 lakh only, the spokesman added.
