JK govt sanctions over Rs 60 lakh for militancy victims

Srinagar, Sep 1 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned more than Rs 60 lakh as ex-gratia relief for 221 militancy-related cases in Kupwara and Srinagar districts, an official spokesman said today.

He said the District Level Screening Committee, Kupwara sanctioned Rs 18.60 lakh as ex-gratia relief in favour of 82 militancy-related cases of the border district.

Out of these, Rs nine lakh were sanctioned to the next of kin of nine people killed in militancy-related incidents. Rs 9.29 lakh have been sanctioned among 66 people whose property got damaged.

The spokesman said Rs 31000 were sanctioned for seven injured peole of the Kupwara district.

He said the District Level Screening Committee, Srinagar met here and discussed as many as 145 militancy-related cases out of which 139 were cleared for sanction.

The spokesman said Rs 42.57 lakh as ex-gratia relief was sanctioned in favour of next of kin of 23 deceased people, one missing person, 76 injured people and 39 property damage cases.
