Jharkhand HC hearing on JCA-BCCI tussle on Sep 7

Ranchi, Sep 1 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today deferred the hearing of dispute of title suit between Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) and Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) and the contempt case till September seven and September 15.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice Permod Kohli passed the order while hearing a title suit writ petition filed by JCA.

During the course of argument the JCA alleged that the BCCI did not allow the JCA to attend the meeting held at Chennai, which was contempt of court.

The lawyer appearing on behalf of the BCCI countered the allegation that it did not amount to contempt of court.

Earlier the court had passed direction to the BCCI that it was free to constitute three-men committee that would decide the recognition of BCA and JCA. But at the same time the court had also directed that the decision taken by the BCCI would be subject to the final hearing of this writ petition.

The BCCI came here to take permission from the court that it had inquired into the matter and would be granted permission to implement the decision taken by the board member of BCCI, the counsel argued.

The JCA contended that before bifurcation of Bihar, the BCA was in existence and the headquarter was in Jamshedpur.

The members of the BCA and so-called JCA decided in the meeting and changed its name from BCA to JCA.

From that date the JCA came into existence and had been recognised by the BCCI.

The court after hearing the parties ordered that the argument on the question on contempt of court would be heard on September 7 and hearing on the rest on September 15.
