FDA rules amended for ensuring quality of food additives

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The Health Ministry has issued a draft Prevention of Food Adulteration (Amendment) Rules for ensuring quality standards of various food additives.

The draft has been published vide notification GSR 439 (E) dated 21.7.2006 in the Gazette of India, Section 3, Sub-section (i) Extraordinary on July 21. The draft amendment is in respect of quality standards of various food additives permitted for use in foods under the PFA Rules, 1955. The details of the notification are available on the website www.mohfw.nic.in/pfa.htm .

The draft rules are published for inviting public comments till the expiry of a period of 60 days from the date of availability of the notification to the public. Comments, if any, may be sent to Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi within the stipulated time period.
