DVC to invest Rs 20,000 cr during 11th plan

Kolkata, Sept 01 (UNI) Damodar Valley Corporation will invest Rs 20,000 crores to expand its capacity by adding 6,500 mw during the 11th plan period.

Speaking at a programme here today, DVC Chairman Asim Barman said " we are going to expand in several new projects like one in Koderma in Jharkhand and another in Purulia." DVC would also take up a 1000 mw power plant in Mejia near Durgapur.

" We will also invest in another 500 mw thermal power plant in Bokaro." He said the company has entered into a joint venture partnership with Tata Power.

" They are going to help us expand our capacity in Maithon power plant. We will soon enter into an agreement on September 27." Mr Barman said DVC has a total installed generation capacity of 2971.5 mw comprising 144 mw hydel, 2745 mw thermal and 82.5 mw gas turbine power.
