CPI(ML) to make starvation deaths issue in 2007 UP polls
Varanasi, Sep 1 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) will make starvation deaths and cases of suicide by weavers and farmers an electoral issue in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
CPI(ML) state secretary Akhilendra Pratap Singh, talking to mediapersons here today said, the party in alliance with Jan Morcha, had come up with a common agenda to raise people's issues including starvation and suicides by weavers and farmers.
Mr Singh also demanded the UP government provide food grains to below poverty line (BPL) families at the rate of Rs two per kg for putting a check on rising cases of starvation deaths and suicides.
''The outstanding loans of weavers and farmers should be waived off.'' He further said the alliance of left and Jan Morcha will give a rude shock to UP Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in the forthcoming assembly elections.
