Kochi, Sep 1 (UNI) A local court today ordered immediate deportation of Gul Mohamed Khan, a Pakistani national, who was arrested on April ten this year for overstaying here.

The Ernakaulam Chief Judicial Magistrate P D Sarangdharan directed the Foreigners Registration Officer to take necessary steps for the deportation of Mr Khan and also collect Rs 15,000 from him towards fine.

The court considered his undertrial imprisonment of four months and 15 days as sentence under the Foreigners Act.

The court also accepted his plea for bargaining. The prosecutor submitted that Khan surrendered before police immediately after realising that the period of his visa had expired. His overstay was not considered to be intentional as he was not involved in any crime.

Yesterday, the magistrate had recorded his plea admitting guilt.
