Cal High Court appoint 2 lawyers to inspect Howrah bridge
Kolkata, Sept 1 (UNI) Aggrieved by the sorry state of Howrah bridge, one of the main links between Kolkata and Howrah, Calcutta High Court today appointed two lawyers, Amicus Caurie, for inspecting the condition of the bridge at the earliest.
The bench, presided by Chief Justice V C Sirpurkar, also asked the environment activist Subhas Dutta to assist the lawyer to inspect the condition of the bridge and preparation of the report.
The court, meanwhile, directed the Registrar to issue notice to the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT), the custodian of the bridge, state Transport department and HRBC, which maintain the bridge.
The Chief Justice today took up the issue after reading the sorry state of the bridge in an English newspaper.
