Brokerage Cos in UAE aid NRIs to get PAN

Dubai, Sep 1 (UNI) UAE-based representatives of Indian banks and brokerage companies are offering assistance to all the NRIs in obtaining income tax Permanent Account Number (PAN), which will become mandatory from October for all demat accounts in India.

Market analysts said financial intermediaries here are now offering services that help NRIs obtain PAN. There is a growing demand for processing PAN from NRI investors, Barjeel Geojit Securities Director K V Shamsudin said.

''We have processed more than 800 PAN applications for our clients,'' he told Khaleej Times.

Representative offices of some Indian banks and brokers in the UAE are also offering help to their customers to meet the SEBI deadline.

Barjeel Geojit Securities LLC is a joint venture between Geojit Financial Services Ltd and Sharjah-based Al Saud Group.

The latter has diversified interest in the area of construction, real estate and investments.

Barjeel Geojit Securities offers online and offline trading services to NRI clients.
