Arrest warrants against SP, ADM, SDM for insulting tricolour
Jaipur, Sep 1 (UNI) A court here today issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the superintendent of police (SP), additional district magistrate (ADM) and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) for insulting the national tricolour.
The District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Gupta has directed the CBI to produce them in court before September 8. The indicted include SP Vishal Bansal, ADM Jagdish Bhadhadu and SDM Ramesh Kumar.
The Nagarik Morcha had filed a petition against the SP, DM and SDM and alleged that these people had arrested their leaders before they could hoist the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day at the Sawai Mansingh stadium (SMS). They also alleged that these people beat up the activists and crushed the national tricolour under their feet.
The Nagarik Morcha in its petition included a photograph showing a policeman crushing the flag under his feet.
It is noted that the Nagarik Morcha were protesting against the state government's decision to shift the venue of the main function on August 15 to Udaipur from the state capital this year.
The Morcha had kept a flag hoisting ceremony at the SMS stadium but the police arrested the Morcha leaders before they could conduct the ceremony.
