Abu Azmi challenges restriction on entering Bhiwandi in HC

Mumbai, Sep 1 (UNI) Samajwadi Party Leader and Rajya Sabha member Abu Asim Azmi has challenged the ban on him ordered by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-II from entering the area of Bhiwandi, in the Bombay High Court.

A division bench comprising Justices J N Patel and R S Dalvi have directed the investigating officer in the case to be present in court on September 4.

The Samajwadi party leader was warned by the Senior Police Inspector of Bhiwandi, to refrain from giving any provoking speech but Azmi is allegedly accused of instigating members of the minority community there, which resulted in two policemen being brutally hacked to death on July 5, during the Bhiwandi riots.

The ban is upto September 9.
