2 Special Police officers among 4 killed, huge arms seized in J

Srinagar, Sep 1 (UNI) Two Special Police Officers (SPOs) were among four people killed by the militants while security forces arrested three ultras and seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, including RDX in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, an official spokesman said.

Militants shot dead two SPOs --Naresh Kumar and Manhori Lal-- at Mastan Gawadi Nallah in Kishtwar area of Doda district late last night, the spokesman said, adding security forces launched a massive hunt to nab the militants.

He said police today recovered body of Mansoor Ahmad Parray, a school teacher, from the forest area of Keller Rajpora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

Ahmad alongwith his father and relative were reportedly intercepted by some militants at Bijbura last evening when they were coming towards Pahlipora from Paddar. They were beaten severely by he militants causing death of Ahmad and injuries to two others, the spokesman said.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital, he said.

He said unknown gunmen kidnapped Nazir Ahmad, a carpenter, at Kachwa Muqam Kreeri village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir late last night.

Police recovered his bullet-ridden body from a nallah at Darwesh Bagh Pattan today, he said.

Security forces apprehended three suspected militants from Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, alongwith three hand grenades and two packets of brown sugar.

Security forces seized 25 hand grenades, two Improvised Explosive Devices, two AK rifles, six magazines and 2162 rounds from forest area of Dhari Rakh in Poonch disltrict of Jammu region early today during a search operation.

In another operation, troops seized nine UBGL grenades, one hand grenade, two wireless sets, nine kg of RDX, two RPG rounds, and 350 AK rounds from a militant hideout at Mandir Gala in Kandi area of Rajouri district today, the spokesman said adding no one has been arrested in this connection.

Two AK magazines, 63 rounds and two hand grenades were seized by the security forces from Arath Beerwah in Badgam district of central Kashmir last evening.
