Woman registers dowry case against husband

Mumbai, Aug 31: A 25-year-old woman, alleging physical and mental torture, has registered a dowry case against her husband and in-laws with the Agripada police station here.

Police today said the woman, Chitra Uday Shanbag, a medical practitoner by profession, in her complaint yesterday stated that she was mentally and physically tortured by her husband Uday (36), mother-in-law Sunanda Haridayal Shanbag (55), brother-in-law Ulhas (30) and father-in-law Haridayal (62), who demanded more dowry from her parents despite the valuables worth over Rs 2.67 lakh she had brought.

She added the torture compounded after she raised an objection to her husband's alleged illicit relationship with a woman staying in their house.

Further investigations are on, police added.
