Upasi Conference to discuss pesticide residues

Bangalore, Aug 31 (UNI) The annual conference of the United Planters' Association of Southern India (UPASI) will this year have a separate session on the burning issue of pesticide residues.

The 113th Annual Conference to be held in Coonoor on September 15 and 16 will have an execlusive session on the issue, according to a UPASI release today.

Papers would be presented by Dr D Kanugo, Asst. Director General and Chairman Pesticide residue Committee of the DG of Health and Services and Dr S K Handa, a World Health Organisation consultant besides Dr Andrew Scott of Tata Tetley, UK.

The annual confernce which would review the performance of the plantation crops would have Union Minister of State for Commerce Jayaram Ramnesh as the Chief Guest on September 16. Chairmen of Coffee, Tea, Rubber and Spices Boards would address the Planters giving the outlook of respective commodities, the release said.
