Chandigarh, Aug 31 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha termed signing of agreement between Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and Reliance Industries Limited to set up Special Economic Zone in Haryana as historical.

In a statement issued here today, Mr Chatha remarked that setting up of SEZ in the state would create large scale job opportunities and prove a milestone in the all round development of Haryana.

He further clarified that this was not an individual decision, rather it was taken unanimously by the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the larger interests of the people of the state.

The Agriculture Minister said those leaders of political parties who were opposing and protesting against this decision, were either unaware of the profits of this ambitious project or just trying to misguide the people to fulfil their own vested interests.

He advised such leaders to pay a visit to China to take a lesson to know how that country, which got independence two years later than India, had progressed economically.

He asserted that China was on the threshold of becoming a second super power of the world by adopting SEZ concept in the country.

Mr Chatha claimed that since the concept of SEZ had been adopted in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the guidance of All India Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi, India had also been viewed as one of the super power of future.
